Glasterra, together with local landowners, joined Western Power and contractors Jacobs Solutions and Cape on 27 August for a Constructability, Operations and Maintenance (COM) review of the 330kV power corridor works.

The review involved walking the approximately 2km cable route to assess access, constructability, safety, environmental considerations and heritage constraints. Testing locations for soil electro‑resistivity and thermal conductivity were also confirmed, along with access arrangements agreed with affected landowners B&J Catalano and Lyndon Edwards.

The review was well attended, with strong participation from landowners, contractors and Western Power representatives. The inspection highlighted several opportunities to further strengthen the design. Minor adjustments to the construction methodology and cable alignment were agreed on site, enabling the project to minimise disturbance to the existing cleared easement and avoid clearing of native vegetation. This will be achieved through a combination of below‑ground directional drilling and excavation along an existing limestone access road.

This inspection marks another important milestone for the project and brings the design and procurement of the 330kV cable corridor a step closer to commencement.
